I can confidently say that the work to repeal "Don't Ask Don't Tell" stands out as one of the career achievements of which I am most proud. It was a privilege to sit down with Kathleen J. McInnis, Ph.D. on the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Smart Women Smart Power podcast last year, where we discussed the challenges and triumphs of that journey. As we celebrated the 12th anniversary of this momentous repeal last week, I thought it fitting to share this podcast again, shedding light on the progress we've made and the importance of inclusion and diversity in our armed forces. I applaud Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks’ recent announcement that United States Department of Defense is now working to upgrade veterans' discharges that were less than honorable as a result of the now-rescinded policy.

I am looking forward to seeing what the next 12 years holds as our Armed Forces continues to become even more representative of the American people, and better equipped to serve while living their life in the light.
